Living in Texas, it does not feel much like Fall until we get closer to November, but that doesn’t stop me from getting Fall ready. Continuing from the last blog post, I am decorating the outside for Fall. As some of you might already know, I had the pleasure of decorating the home of my future mother-in-law. I made her a wreath and set her up with some pumpkins and fall favorites on her doorstep. I had so much fun with the project and I’m excited to share it!
Before starting this fun project I made a few stops by some of my favorite stores. I started with Hobby Lobby, then Michael’s, and Target. Hobby Lobby has good sales of course and never disappoints. I got bundles of hay, a little wooden wagon, wreaths, bundles of wooden white pumpkins, and that dream ladder. Everything was on sale for 40 and 50 percent off. Their flowers were not on sale when I went so I decided to try Michael’s. Michael’s had all their Fall flowers at 60 percent off, and I also received an extra 20 percent off everything Fall. It was meant to be! I got some for my wreath and some for hers too. I’ve never purchased so many flowers, and I even had to make another trip to buy a few more for each wreath. At Target I only got a comfy plaid blanket, using a coupon from the Target app. I also got a coloring book for Jermaine. With all these materials, I was ready to start the project!
Making the wreaths was definitely relaxing to me. I have always found enjoyment in the simplicity of organizing and piecing them together. I made two separate wreaths to give two different perspectives, depending on your personal style. My MIL wanted bright, autumn, and a “see it from the street” door wreath. Which I love everything about! In the past, I’ve made myself one of those and I still love it. For myself I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try something new. I went for greens and whites, trying to keep it simple. I fell in love with both color schemes while putting them together.
It took me one night to put both of them together. One of my favorite things about making wreaths, it is all up to you on where you want things to go and how you want them to look. After putting them together, we went to the Farmer’s Market the very next morning for some pumpkins. We did our Saturday ritual consisting of Starbucks, brunch, and the Farmer’s Market. Jermaine had a blast running around, making sure he pick the right pumpkins. We came back with a little wagon of pumpkins and some adorable photos, a successful trip. Here are some highlights from our Saturday afternoon.
Now that we had all the pumpkins, we were ready to put everything together and hope for the best!
Setting everything up is always refreshing because you get to see the whole picture come together. The work you put in, the memories created, and the joy throughout the process, all going into one great outcome. When my MIL finally saw everything displayed and finished, she loved it. Seeing the biggest smile on her face was all the joy I had hoped.
To the left of the front door is her quaint sized porch area, I placed a few fun Fall decorations over there as well.
Here are a few photos of my wreath hanging from her door. I rearranged the pumpkins a little bit, to make them go better with the wreath. I loved the turn out and stepping out of my comfort zone. Definitely worth it!
I am so glad I got to share this fun project with you guys. I hope you found, or saw, something you liked. If you make a wreath or decorate for Fall, please send some pictures. I think its clear that I love decorating for any holiday anytime of the year. This time of the year always feels rewarding, with all the treats and the cooler weather that comes with it. Christmas is hands down my favorite, but I know it’s still quite a ways away. Until then, I’ll be sipping on Pumpkin Chai tea and eating some delicious apples. Pumpkin Spice Everything!
